God, you are patient, you are kind. you do not envy, do not boast, you are not proud. You are not rude or self-seeking, you are not easily angered and keep no record of wrongs.
You do not delight in evil but rejoice with the truth. You always protect, always trust, always hope, always persevere.
You never fail.
Am I always patient? Am I kind?
Do I envy? Do I boast?
Am I proud, rude or self-seeking?
Am I easily angered?
Do I Keep a record of wrongs against me?
Do I delight in evil?
Instead do I rejoice with the truth?
Do I always protect, always trust, always hope, always persevere?
Do I fail? You know, Lord that the answer is yes. Forgive my sins, for You are Love.
Thanksgiving and Supplication:
You've taught me some patience; teach me more
You've made me kinder; make me more so.
You've made me more content, deliver me from envy.
You've humbled me:
let all my 'boasting' be my praise of you;
Let my bearing be humble always;
let my words build up others;
let my heart be set on blessing others.
You've forgiven me:
teach me to forgive others
to sympathize even when evil befalls the wicked,
and to rejoice when even they discover your goodness.
Let me be a faithful protector, ready to give second chances, hopefully persevering in loving even my enemies.
May your love flowing out from me never fail.
I know that all this will come to pass, because you gave your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us. Amen.
